A Memorable Halloween
Halloween is coming up in a couple weeks and my son told me that he wanted to wear his Superman pajamas as a costume. The idea struck me as pretty at first, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that this wasn’t that big a deal at all. He needed a costume and that’s what he wanted to go as, and if he wore what he already owned then I would be saving some money on something that he was only going to wear once. It would be different if he wasn’t so young and he was going to stay the same size for a while, but within a couple months he would totally outgrow anything I bought him.
I secretly congratulated myself for having gotten him those superhero pajamas. My wife didn’t like them at all and thought they were a little bit childish, but I had to remind her that he was still a child and he just wanted have a little fun. When he was younger she always dressed him in the weirdest things, which we ended up arguing about. There was this one time that I will never forget. She came back from the mall with these weird looking toddler bathrobes, which looked absolutely ridiculous. I told her that there was no way that my son was going to wear them, and that was that.
